On 14 April 2014, the National Bank of Romania put into circulation Set of three coins dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of King Carol I of Romania.

Obverse: a group of images representing landmarks and achievements under the rule of Carol I: the War of Independence, the Cernavodă Bridge, the restoration of the church of Curtea de Argeș Monastery and the construction of Peleș Castle; the coat of arms of Romania, the year of issue “2014”, the inscription “ROMANIA” and the face value “1 LEU”.

Reverse: the portrait of King Carol I, his signature and the inscriptions “CAROL I” and “175 ANI DE LA NASTERE” in an arc.
